Pennsylvania Certified Organic announces a job opening for a Quality Systems and
Information Technology (IT) Manager. The ideal candidate will have education and
experience in quality systems, information or business management, including but not
limited to: auditing, document control, and quality and IT systems. We are looking for
a well organized and self-motivated person to join our team-oriented environment in
Spring Mills, Pennsylvania.
PCO is a growing non-profit organization that works with organic farmers and food
producers in the Mid-Atlantic region. PCO provides organic certification services to
more than 600 operations and employs 20 office staff and 15 field inspectors. Our
staff is dedicated to our mission of assuring the integrity of organic products in the
marketplace.
This is a full-time, exempt position.
Salary range: $41,000 to $51,000, depending on experience.

Quality Systems and Information Technology Manager
Position Summary:
The Quality Systems and Information Technology (IT) Manager’s role is to lead the Quality
Team and oversee PCO’s quality, document, and information management systems, which
includes managing the IT staff.
Team Statement:
The Quality Systems and IT Manager leads the Quality Team, which has the following areas of
responsibility:

1. Quality Systems and Accreditation
2. Document, Information, and Communication Systems
3. Computer Hardware and Software Support
The Quality Systems and IT Manager’s work focuses primarily in areas 1 and 2.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Financial Planning and Management
• Meet Quality Team financial objectives by estimating requirements; submitting an annual
budget; and scheduling expenditures
Quality Systems and Accreditation
• Promote quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization
• Work with other directors and staff to establish and define processes and procedures
• Ensure quality management system policies and procedures are properly understood
and carried out at all levels of the organization
• Identify relevant quality management system-related training needs and deliver training
• Ensure the quality management system complies with accreditation requirements
• Act as point of contact with accreditors and auditors and coordinate accreditation audits
• Ensure the execution of corrective actions resulting from accreditation requirements and
quality system audits
• Organize and conduct internal audits
Document, Information, and Communication Systems
• Develop and manage document and information management systems
• Ensure technology meets the needs of the organization
Additional
• Represent PCO at industry events such as trade shows, conferences and meetings, if
needed
• Other responsibilities, as assigned by supervisor or the Executive Director
Job Requirements:
Position:
• Bachelor’s degree in quality systems, auditing, business, information management or
other relevant field (or equivalent combination of education and training)
• Minimum 2 years experience in a quality systems role, preferably in a regulated industry
• Experience in auditing and managing quality or information systems
• Knowledge of NOP organic regulations and organic certification procedures, preferred
• Highly competent use or knowledge of databases, computer networks and internet
• Excellent planning and organizational skills
• Previous supervisory experience, preferred
General:
• Analytical problem solving ability
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform within deadlines
• Excellent communication, writing and interpersonal skills
• Able to work with minimal supervision while understanding the necessity for
communicating and coordinating work efforts with others. Must be able to develop
work-plan and perform in a team environment.
• Computer proficiency: word processing, spreadsheets, internet research, databases
• Performs work with utmost honesty and integrity. Criminal background check is
required.

• United States citizen or legally approved to be employed in this position in the United
States

Physical requirements / Working Conditions:
• Climate controlled office environment
• Minimal physical requirements other than occasional light lifting
• Minimal travel required
