Bill's blog

I hope I did the right thing - and thank you Patton Township Police Officers

i was out having coffee and deep discussion with a friend late thursday night, a discussion that lasted until the early friday morning hours, about politics and websites and business and the military and sequestration, the kinds of things I like to talk about. After the long discussion I shopped, like a good husband, lol, bringing home groceries for the household.

So, I was driving home very late, on Valley Vista Drive, I work nights, I often shop late at night, so for me this was not all that unusual. Read more »

Pa Senator says legalizing marijuana could bring in millions for Pennsylvania

Straight From Senator Leach's website - he seems to be saying the ultimate benefit would bout about $350 million per year. I don't know about the math, but, that seems like a fair amount of money to me.

He seems to be complaining that the plan to ditch the State Stores only produces a one-time snmall savings while killing a long term cash cow for the state's revenue - which sounds EXACTLY like Tom Corbett.

HARRISBURG, February 1, 2013 – As Gov. Corbett lays the groundwork to privatize Pennsylvania’s liquor stores and fund education this year with the revenue raised, Sen. Daylin Leach (D-Montgomery/Delaware) has offered an alternative plan: legalize marijuana and generate a constant revenue source for the state to use for years to come.

“We don’t need to sell our state stores to the highest bidder to bring in money to fund education, especially if the money gained can only be used once,” Leach said. “This plan may help our state in the short term, but is a foolish long term strategy, as it offers no permanent solutions. Why eliminate a constant revenue stream when we could keep it, continue to benefit from it, and add to it by regulating, taxing and selling marijuana under the state store umbrella?”

Leach, who this session will introduce a marijuana legalization bill, said the answer our state is looking for is simple. Read more »

American people are not stupid, they know there are 2 sets of laws in the country: one for the rich, another for everyone else

Obama, and the Federal Dems, you choose to serve Wall Street. Don't come crying to us when Wall Street gives you the reward you deserve.

The American people are not stupid. They see the double standard. They know that there are two sets of laws in the country: one for the rich, powerful and well connected of Wall Street and one for everyone else on Main Street. In fact, a jury explicitly told the SEC just that when they rejected the attempted scapegoating of a minnow while letting the whales of Wall Street get off.

"As a recent report showed, Wall Street's egregious reckless and, indeed, criminal conduct will cost our country more than $12.8 trillion. And, of course, those numbers can't count the ongoing devastating human wreckage across our country from lost jobs, homes, retirements, educations and, worst of all, dreams.

After all that, the select handful of rich and powerful not only all walk away scot-free, but they get to do so with their pockets stuffed with -- literally -- billions of dollars. As Frontline so clearly showed, the minnows of Main Street are prosecuted and thrown in prison for years while the party on Wall Street continues.

The rise of the robots - in case you haven't figured it out, robots are changing the world economy, and reducing your pay

I have talked about the effect of robotics and automated manufacturing foi rmany years - this was a well discussed topic back in the early days of the net, when the early adopters of the internet all collectively realized that robotics changed the planet's economy, and would change the planet's politics as well.

I posted this for example, not long ago...

The fiscal cliff, the deficit, and the decline of america - It's all the ROBOT'S FAULT!

The rest of you have taken a long long time to catch on to the basic, almost common sense understanding - that if manufacturing is done by robots, human workers will be surplus to requirements. That is, pal, we got no need of you, you have been permenantly downsized, "do you want fries with that" for the rest of your miserable unneeded life.

Well, it's taken what, 20-30 years - but the Very Serious People are starting to recognize what we all (we netkultur geeks) knew long ago. Robots change everything.

What will you do in a robotic future, when you are not needed?

Summary? You are pretty much screwed for the forseeable future. It's going to be like "Thunderdome Two - the fight for the last remaining lower middle class jobs! Two men enter, one man leaves!". Read more »

Sandy Hook Truthers - the growing belief in the far right that the Newtown massacre was a hoax to justify gun seizures

Sandy Hook Truthers - the growing belief on the far right that sandy hook was a manufactured event whose purpose was to start the process of taking the patriot's guns. LOL, you can't make this stuff up.

Because of the work I do, I encounter this kind of talk a lot - lots of tinfoil farrightists are doing the grunt work in the internet industry. Sandy Hook Truth is growing in popularity.

Some florida professor has taken up the banner...http://memoryholeblog.com/2013/01/01/sandy-hook-the-illusion-of-tragedy/

"Additional facets of coverage and maneuvers suggesting the possibility of an at least a partially staged event include the choice of the Sandy Hook Fire and Rescue Company’s headquarters as an evacuation point for the school’s students. This is accompanied by a lack of photographic or video evidence of such a widespread evacuation, bizarre interview footage of idle and wandering families alongside an emotional man who just happens across a half dozen Sandy Hook first graders in his front lawn who apparently witnessed their teacher’s murder."
