A Streetcar Named Desire

A Streetcar Named Desire was written by American playwright Tennessee Williams and performed on Broadway from December 3, 1947- December 17, 1949.  The play takes place in New Orleans where Blanche DuBois, a once Southern Belle and fading relic of the old South, visits her younger sister Stella and her husband Stanley. Stanley represents the working urban-class and spends the majority of the play clashing with Blanche and her “self-righteous” attitude.
The State College Community Theatre's production of A Streetcar Named Desire was extremely entertaining and well performed.  The Director Charles Dumas did great work of presenting a smooth performance that kept the audience interested. I felt that the play was well rehearsed and presented very professionally. In my opinion, the show excelled due to the quality of acting and timely sound effects.
The play was performed at the Boal Barn Playhouse, just a few miles outside of State College. I will admit when I first got there and saw just a barn, I was surprised. I could not figure out how they were going to perform an entire play in a barn. Then as the play started I forgot about the space issue and got lost into the excitement of the play. I was so impressed with the actor’s ability to work with a limited area and be able to perform at such a high level.
A Streetcar Named Desire is a classic play that the State College Community Theatre has brought back to entertain us. I would not want to miss the opportunity to see this play performed by such an amazing cast.

Outstanding show, I agree!

This was a great show. It's too bad they close next weekend though. I know a lot of people who want to see it but can't get there by next weekend. If you can see it...do!
