Sustainability Now Radio
Dear fellow ecological workers, sustainers, and workers for a better future,
As the hosts of a new radio show about sustainability, we hope that that you can help us and that we can help you.
We are Peter Buckland and Mike Shamalla, co-hosts of Sustainability Now on Penn State's student station, The Lion 90.7 which airs on Friday afternoons from 4-5 pm. Our show brings global and local sustainability issues to central Pennsylvania. It is our goal to bring the Penn State community in particular and central Pennsylvania more directly to a new awareness of what sustainability is and can be. We believe that our show's mission aligns with yours and that we can work together soon.
Already, we have hosted student activists, people working at Penn State's Center for Sustainability, the Centre County Solid Waste Authority, Clearwater Conservancy, the National Wildlife Federation, and teachers for sustainability. In upcoming shows we will be hosting Penn State's Richard Alley, one of the IPCC's AR4 authors, Brian Snyder from Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture and Kyla Smith who does inspection for Pa. Certified Organic, and Mark McLaughlin from the Shaver's Creek Environmental Center. Today's show (Friday March 19th from 4-5) we will be discussing the moral and ethical dimensions of climate change with people from Penn State's Rock Ethics Institute. You can read about recent shows at our blog: http://sustainabilitynowradio.blogspot.com/
We hope for three things. First, we hope that some of you will come on our show and share your news, your practices, your experiences, and your hopes. Second, we hope that you might be able to spread the word about our show to as many people as you feel comfortable. As it stands, we have only our word of mouth power and no advertising budget. But we really believe that we can make a difference for sustainability with your help. Third, we hope that you might give us a listen by streaming the show from the website which is available at: http://thelion.fm/listen/
Thank you so much for your time. We really look forward to hearing back from you and meeting you in person.
With great hopes,
Peter Buckland
