Glenn Beck's teabag army at work - or suicide? You decide!

By now we've all heard about the 51 year old schoolteacher and parttime census taker found hanged in a tree in a Kentucky graveyard with the word "FED" drawn on his chest.

The big media has been careful to repeatedly say that it might have been suicide. Very "responsible" of them, I suppose.

But dang he must have been a limber fellow, to have duct taped himself up hands and feet, naked, with his federal ID duct taped to his shoulder, with duct tape over his eyes and a rag stuffed in his mouth, and to have first written FED on his chest (backwards by the way, from his perspective), and then pulled himself up by the neck to "commit suicide".

Federal, state and local authorities have refused to say if Sparkman was at work going to door-to-door for census surveys in the time before his death, but his Census identification tag was found taped to his body.

Jerry Weaver of Fairfield, Ohio, told The Associated Press on Friday that he was among a group of relatives who made the gruesome discovery on Sept. 12.

"The only thing he had on was a pair of socks," Weaver said. "And they had duct-taped his hands, his wrists. He had duct tape over his eyes, and they gagged him with a red rag or something."

"And they even had duct tape around his neck. And they had like his identification tag on his neck. They had it duct-taped to the side of his neck, on the right side, almost on his right shoulder."

Two people briefed on the investigation said various details of Weaver's account matched the details of the crime scene, though both people said they were not informed who found the body. The two spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the case.

Weaver said he couldn't tell if the tag was a Census Bureau ID because he didn't get close enough to read it. But both of the people briefed on the investigation confirmed Sparkman's Census ID was found taped to his head and shoulder area.

Weaver said he could see something written on Sparkman's chest but he did not go close enough to read it.

While authorities confirmed for the first time Thursday that asphyxiation was the cause of death, even the details behind that were murky. According to a Kentucky State Police statement, the body was hanging from a tree with a noose around the neck, yet it was in contact with the ground.

So his feet were touching the ground. That means they hung him slow. A nasty way to die.

The article goes on to mention "meth labs" as a possible cause of his death.

I dunno, I suppose someone could have killed him for some other reason, and is trying to blame the teabag army.

I personally put my money on a Glenn Beck fan doing his guru's bidding. Anybody wanna bet suicide?

I'm not a centrist or a moderate

Here's what a centrist blog has to say....

http://themoderatevoice.com/47613/the-ghouls-surrounding-bill-sparkman/

The fact remains that the facts are not known. Was Bill murdered by some politically motivated zealot? Was he killed by paranoid meth cookers or pot growers in a region historically rife with bootleggers? Or did he simply run into a serial killer roaming the back country in search of victims? Again, we don’t know.

What we do know is that an economically struggling cancer survivor left behind two children who will never have their father come home again. We know that a single man, for whatever reason, died a lonely, horrific, gruesome death out in the mountains.

I was looking for a photo of the poor fellow - and I figured, hey, here's a counterpoint to my own polemic. I am definitely not a moderate or a centrist. I understand centrists - they are kinda timid and passive and their primary motivation is not to lose what they got - totally normal folks. I'm a fiery techno-libertarian with a lot of anger for what the republicans did these past 12 years. i'm fully conscious of my own polemics.

And it's surely possible that this murder is being made to look like teabagger work. Let's hope that's what it turns out to be, a frameup. However, the fact that a frame like this is believeable is food for thought in itself.

Anyway, here's a photo of Bill Sparkman:

In this undated 2008 photo, Bill Sparkman speaks to a 7th grade class during a lesson about sound waves. A law enforcement official says Sparkman, a U.S. Census worker found hanged from a tree near a Kentucky cemetery, had the word "fed" scrawled on his chest, and the FBI is investigating whether he was a victim of anti-government sentiment. Friends: Hanging victim devoted his life to kids

LONDON, Ky. — Even while fighting cancer and undergoing chemotherapy, Bill Sparkman would show up for work wearing his customary smile and a toboggan cap to cover his balding head.

The substitute teacher and part-time census worker cherished the values he learned in his youth as he worked toward becoming an Eagle Scout. Above all, he was punctual and dependable.

So when he didn't show up for his job at Johnson Elementary School two weeks ago, colleagues knew something had to be wrong.

Three days later, a man's body was found hanging from a tree at a rural cemetery in nearby Clay County. A rope was around his neck, the word "fed" scrawled on him with what appeared to the coroner to be a felt marker.

It was Sparkman, dead of asphyxiation.

State and federal investigators still have not determined whether someone may have killed Sparkman because of anti-government sentiment. State police Capt. Lisa Rudzinski said investigators haven't ruled anything out, including whether the death that has so shocked his friends and colleagues was a homicide, suicide or accidental. But a man who found Sparkman's body while visiting the cemetery said he had been gagged, had duct tape over his eyes, and his hands and feet were bound with duct tape.

Friends remembered Sparkman as a quiet and kind man who had devoted his life to children as a Scout leader and educator who, despite a battle with lymphoma, went back to college to get his teaching certification.

Census takers obamanation secret plot to target teabag radicals

You can't make stuff up any better than this.

Internet conspiracy theories have grown in recent months over the fact that census workers are now equipped with GPS-enabled handheld computers that let them collect the geolocation of street addresses as they perform pre-census canvassing.

http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2009/09/census/

A post on the widely read Infowars.com in June warned: “I will tell you plainly, the NWO [New World Order] controlled American military wants these GPS markers so they can launch Predator Drone missile attacks, the aptly named HELLFIRE missile I might add, against a long list of undesirables here in CONUS, continental United States.”

Other commentators have posited less lethal theories. The American Daily Review warned in April that the Census Bureau is “shooting GPS coordinates of your doorway” in possible preparation for a secret Obama plan to cede some of America’s sovereignty to the United Nations.

“If the government decided to rely on foreign troops, perhaps United Nations personnel, most of which may not understand the street signs, much less know the lay of the land, they could use GPS devices to direct them to your front door,” the site explained.

And RightSoup.com suggests that the government, “and ACORN,” wants the coordinates for Americans’ front doors as “a jackboot convenience.”

The conspiracy theories have struck a chord with a certain type of American, and posts like these have collected comments from people vowing not to allow workers anywhere near their houses. A few comments have taken an ominous tone.

“Only a fool would allow the New World Order to come up and take GPS readings at your front door,” wrote a commenter to another Infowars.com post. “There is nothing good to come from Big Brother’s constant meddling into our lives! Beware, and carry a big stick… preferably .308 Winchester full metal jacket.”

So sorry for the family

They have done my family the very same way and we still wait for this all to end......My heart and prayers go out to this mans family......God Bless each and everyone of them...May Justice be served......I have been seeking justice for the Murder of my sister since 2001..Election year May 2001........

Beck Troll???

Gee ... the only place that I saw Glen Beck's name in this article was in the title.  Could this be a little trolling to get folks juices flowing?

This guy obviously walked into a "den of vipers" ... who are common in that geography.  They have an immense hatred for the federal government.

Glen Beck must REALLY get under your skin for you to try to associate him with this ... do you really want to go there???

Oh yeah, totally wanna go there

Beck is a white-headed pustule on the diseased backside of the republican party, so I totally wanna go there.

Of course the article says nothing about beck and his un-american preachings of hate and despair - it's me who is saying that kind of thing.

Hypocrite ...

It's amazing how you can accuse someone of hate without a bit of hesitation ... immediately after you make a totally hateful statement yourself!

... or do you believe in "do what I say ... not what I do"?

Your gung fu technique is weak

Sorry bud, simplistic ambiguous moral arguments don't really work on me.

I pretty much do and say the same things. I hate Beck's and the republican spokespeople's hate rhetoric. Much like I hate bullies and psuedo-agressive blusterers in general. I hate what republicans did to this country, letting the infrastructure and economy rot and selling the country to the corporations.

If a person or a group hates me, and is actively trying to threaten me, I'm under no moral obligation to be passive. I'm not claiming to be a practicing christian, who must then eschew hate and violence of all kinds, and is under a moral obligation not to wage wars or commit hateful acts, who must turn the other cheek.

Your side just takes advantage of that kind of moral ambiguity. You are masters of repression, I'll give you that.

But seriously, there's no point in the ritual exchange of tribal taunts.

Other than that, since you came back, what's your plan for America?

I'm totally serious about that last question. If you're a beckian, whats the plan? How will you reverse the decay and rebuild the infrastructure and economy that we all let collapse?

wingnuts

never ceases to amaze me the wingnuts out there. folks don't get enough drama from not enough health coverage, from job insecurity, from global warming (oh, i forgot, its not happening), from jerry springer and oprah...they gotta be makin this stuff up on the internet to see who'll bite. lunatics.

Kentucky officials say it was a suicide

http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2009-11-24-census-worker-suicide_N.htm

A man who found the body in the Daniel Boone National Forest said the 51-year-old was bound with duct tape, gagged and had an identification badge taped to his neck.

Investigators say Sparkman acted alone in manipulating the scene to conceal the suicide.

The news release says Sparkman had recently taken out two life insurance policies that would not pay out for suicide.
