Keb’ Mo’s music is a purely post-modern expression of the artistic and cultural journal that has transformed blues and his own point of view. His distinctive sound embraces multiple eras and genres, including pop, rock, folk and jazz, in which he is well-versed.
Mo’s 2006 album Suitcase expresses the poetry in everyday words and communicates volumes about universal experiences. Some of the songs are about different attitudes or experiences such as the baggage we carry, love’s power to elevate the common man above the ills of society and two soul mates meeting for the first time.
The album was produced by Keb’ Mo’ and long-time collaborator John Porter who has worked with B.B. King, Los Lonely Boys and Santana. It was recorded at the legendary Shangri-La Studios in Malibu, CA.
“The creative process involved in the making of this record has been a deeply rewarding experience,” said Keb’ Mo’. “Everything from the songwriting sessions to reconnecting with John Porter has been a wonderful journey. The music on this record represents life happening in all of its shades and shapes. I hope that spirit is conveyed to the listener.”
