State College Horse Show Series
July 1-5 2009
The State College Horse Show Series will be held Wednesday July 1 through Sunday July 5. The show will feature over 500 horses. The shows include nationally rated horses. For more information visit: http://www.happyvalley.com
Central PA 4th Fest
July 4, 2009
The Central PA 4th Fest has been held in State College for over 80 years. Centre County has had a celebration every year since 1927. The celebration will be held Saturday July 4. The day is filled with fun for the entire family. The 8th annual Firecracker 4K Race begins at 9a.m. And goes through the Penn State campus. There are prizes awarded to the top male and female, as well as to all age groups. There will be activities and entertainment. A few of the activities include: a pyrotechnics demonstration, held in the pyro demo tent , which will show those attending what goes into making the fireworks display come alive. In the Stadium Lot West there will be free hot dogs and chips from 4p.m to 8p.m., and there will be a golf ball pyramid demonstration at Founder’s Mall. Entertainment will be provided at the White Stage, Blue Stage and the Towne Square. Entertainment events begin at 2p.m. The fireworks show will begin at 9:15p.m., and is ranked as one of the greatest displays in America. Philipsburg Heritage Days
July 7-12 2009
This year the 12th annual Philipsburg Heritage Days will be held Tuesday July 7 to Sunday July 12. This event is a celebration of the Philipsburg community. The theme of this year’s celebration is “Honoring the Past-Looking to the Future”. Philipsburg Elks Lodge and the Daughters of the American Revolution are celebrating their 100 year anniversaries and will be featured this year. Several other organizations will also be featured. Tentative events that are scheduled for the celebration are Dayze Gone Bye carriage rides and the Puppen Meister Country Jamboree. A Civil War Camp
July 11-12 2009
This year on Saturday July 11 and Sunday July 12 the Pennsylvania Military Museum in Boalsburg will be having a Civil War Camp. The encampment runs from 10a.m. To 8p.m. On Saturday and 10a.m. To 4p.m. On Sunday. The encampment demonstrations include: infantry drills, civilian fashions, union signal corps and union field hospital.
Last Cruise Car and Motorcycle Show
July 25, 2009
The Last Cruise Car and Motorcycle Show will be held Saturday July 25 at the Mount Nittany Middle School. Gates open to the public at 7a.m. There will be judging of motorcycles, cars, trucks and military vehicles. Prizes will be awarded. There will activities for family members or friends of those who have a vehicle registered in the show. The 4th annual Best of the Best Show will be held in downtown State College. Prizes will be awarded including a crowd favorite. Donations collected will go as votes for the crowd favorite award. Jazz Fest
July 25, 2009
Jazz Fest will be held Saturday July 25 in Bellefonte. The festivities begin at 11a.m. And carry on all day. The saxophone will be featured this year in honor of the JazzPA founder, Joe Alessandro. This year’s featured guest artists include: Jerry Dodgion, saxophone, Russ Kassooff, piano, David Finck, bass, and Dennis Mackrel, drums. Jerry Dodgion will be providing a master class. The class begins at 11a.m. At the Match Factory and is open and free to the public. Past performers at Jazz Fest have included greats such as: Jay Anderson, Tom Malone and Ken Peplowski. Some of the performances given will be by The Tarnished Six, The Friends (Big) Band with vocalist Catherine Dupuis, the State College and Bellefonte High School Jazz Bands, Rick Hirsch & Liquid Jazz and the Arthur Goldstein Quartet with Steve Bowman. Vietnam Revisited
July 25-26 2009
The Vietnam Revisited Living History Bivouac will be held Saturday July 25 and Sunday July 26 at the Pennsylvania Military Museum in Boalsburg. The re-enactment of American troops will be held on the grounds of Southeast Asia located next to the Spring Creek at the museum. The bivouac will take place on Saturday July 25 from 10a.m. To 5p.m., and on Sunday July 26 from 12p.m. To 4p.m. There will also be short range recon patrols and tactical ambush demos. Summer Sounds
Sundays in July and August
Summer Sounds concerts are performed at the Gazebo in Talleryrand Park in Bellefonte. If it rains the concerts are held in the YMCA. The concerts start at 7p.m. And are free to the public. There will be a concert every Sunday in July and the first two Sundays in August. The featured performers include: Jay Vonada, Tommy Wareham, Second Winds, Banjovial, John Thompson and Murphy’s Junction. Bellefonte Arts & Crafts Fair
August 14-15 2009
This year the Bellefonte Arts & Crafts Fair will be held on Friday August 14 and Saturday August 15. There will be plenty of food and fun. Live entertainment will be provided both days. There will be children’s activities from 10a.m. To 1p.m., and this is the 26th year that the fair will be held. For more information about this event please visit www.bellefontefair.org.
