Are democrats stealing McCain yard signs?

I've been hearing stories about Obama yard signs being stolen, often over and over again.

I was wondering if McCain sign theft was a big problem too? If you have had your McCain sign stolen, or know of a McCain yard sign stealing story, please let me know.

Since Obama sign theft seems to be pretty common, surely there must be a McCain theft problem too?

Maybe voices should do a story on McCain sign theft? And uncover the silent epidemic?

Stolen McCain Sign

I am an independent who finally decided to vote for McCain. I had just put out a McCain/Palin sign on my property on Thursday, October 9, 2008 and discovered it was STOLEN @1:00pm this afternoon October 11, 2008. Some cowardly thief who does NOT believe in democracy stole the plastic sign off the metal legs. The other signs for Manion adn Quinn remained untouched. The road is Marienstein in Upper Black Eddy. I have notified the national media and I will also be writing letters to my local newspapers. Crime doesn't pay you dishonest Obama supporter!

Well that's sad to hear.

The past few elections have been like that - very tribal, with a great deal of tribal animosity. It's only going to get worse too, no matter who wins. Quite a bit worse. Irreconcilable differences, as they say.

Your's is the first story of a Mccain sign theft that I've heard. Tho possibly thats just because I'm somewhat isolated.

I placed a McCain sign on my lawn this week (Carlisle, PA) - within 3 days, it was stolen, as was my neighbors.

Seems the same complaint every election for every campaign - I have to wonder if it's people from the same campaign doing it, just to stir up animosity and divisiveness, if it's kids being kids or if it's serious supporters of the other candidate. Common sense says it's not serious supporters of the other candidate, because no serious supporter would believe that a yard sign would make one bit of difference in the minds of people who actually go vote.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions about the other campaign doing it - I think that just feeds the fire and that's not very useful. And yes, I too have heard of many Obama signs disappearing...so everyone's a victim here of such silliness.

Pwnt - since you love to steal so much, I was wondering if you were the Obama supporter who stole the Obama magnet off the back of my neighbor's car because you were too lazy or cheap to get one of your own? Or should I blame it on some McCain numbskull who thought it made some difference?

It's so nice to know folks have nothing better to do in these serious times. IF you really do think the McCain folks are "bewildered and unintelligent" I wonder what your petty acts of thievery do for what they think of Obama supporters...certainly nothing productive.

Yes happenign here! Every week we have to put out new signs, have folks caught on camera from teenagers to adults..... We have countered with signs that say "You can take our signs but not our vote" Peace to all in PA!

This video was on metafilter today... McCain supporters stealing Obama signs - so I guess it's all over. Lots of tribal competition.

I think this is going to get far worse till it gets better. Demographics and dislike are a powerful drug.

Actually, having to endure claims that the center-left¹ Obama is a ultrasocialist is going to be excrutiating.

¹He's not even planning single payer healthcare, which alone leaves us far to the right of all other civilized countries.

I wonder if this happened on anything like the same scale with Clinton yard signs. He's the last presidential candidate I can recall that drove people as crazy as Obama does.

Someone slashed the tires of at least 30 vehicles parked outside the Crown Coliseum on Sunday during a rally for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, authorities said.

Yup.... Stollen signs here. San Jacinto, CA. Sucks to have my 1st ammendment rights violated. Perhaps these folks would care to talk about some of the other ammendments that I support.... 2, 14 etc.

This has prompted operation escallation... I doubled, then trippled the effort and number of signs (out of pocket expense to me) and now (at least for two weeks (knock on wood)) it would appear that I have conquered by attrition...

My subdivision was ransacked last night (Halloween). I walk my dog every day and did an unofficial 15-4 sign count in favor of McCain....This morning every sign was gone, including my own.
