Polar Bear Survival Slideshow at Schlow Library on 2/4/08
Last Monday eveing, February 4, 2008, I sponsored a Polar Bear Survival Slideshow at Schlow Library. The presenter was Chad Kister who has written several paperback books on the Arctic - Odyssey Through aThreatened Wilderness among others. Only 20 people from the entire area of "Happy Valley" showed up. I was very disappointed that our area residents are not more interested in the global warming threat that is facing us all. Chad is touring the entire state of Pennsylvania now with his story of his individual survival under conditions of extreme adversity in the Artic and his expose' of the "clean oil" development at Prudhoe Bay. I will have to add that it was a very cold, icy night in State College but what else is new in this area this time of year. The library affords free parking and we even had Strabucks coffee to boot. The complacency of not wanting to learn the true story of how global warming is changing our world is astounding to me!

Do you have any photos?
You got any photos you can post? How about a website URL?
I think I noticed a listing in the events, but next time, please post blog and forum entries beforehand to let people know what's happening.
And if you post followups, and put the material online, people who aren't likely to go to a public event (like myself - I used to go to events, but over the past decades I've gotten kind of burned out) can still get the information and pass it along.
I know my wife and I often talk about the polar bears - they've become iconic.
