New Deal Art in Centre County Cast aluminum relief entitled "Iron Pouring" installed by Jean de Marco in Danville, 1941.

 
Join us at the Centre Furnace Mansion on Sunday, March 24th at 2:00pm.  Speaker Dave Lembeck, lead researcher of "A Common Canvas" exhibit, will present a program about the New Deal Post Office Murals from Central Pennsylvania.  Following Dave's program, a reception will be held on the first floor of the Mansion, and the exhibit will be open for tours. 

On display are 15 photographic images of this public art, featuring themes of agriculture and industry, with emphasis on artworks from central Pennsylvania.  Also displayed are early airmail objects and images from Centre County. Read more online...    
 
This exhibit is a collaboration of Centre County Historical Society, David Lembeck, photographer Michael Mutmansky, and the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. Exhibit objects featured are from the American Philatelic Society, and the Centre County Library & Historical Museum - Pennsylvania Room, with Post Office Mural panels from the State Museum of Pennsylvania.
