Legacy Day of the Civilian Conservation Corps

Learn about life in a Civilian Conservation Corps camp. Share with others and learn how events brought about the creation of the Civilian Conservation Corps program that included the construction of Poe Valley State Park.  Enjoy a stroll along Poe Valley Lake that resulted from the construction of an earthen and masonry dam through the works of CCC Company 1333 Camp S-63 located near the park. You may even be able to visit the site where the camp was erected and tour the original officer’s quarters building.  A collection of memorabilia will be on display for you to enjoy and you may bring any mementos you have that you wish to share with others.

Enjoy a free lunch featuring real menu items from authentic CCC recipes and menu boards. While lunch is free, it would be helpful for us to know how many plan to attend. RSVP for lunch at CentreHistory.org/legacyday or call (814) 234-4779.

This is an event for everyone and all ages.  CCC veterans, sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters, nieces, nephews, extended family members, CCC history buffs, local historians, are encouraged to attend and bring your CCC stories, questions and step back in time!

Thanks to the generosity of sponsors and contributors, this is a free and family friendly event.
