Lack of belief in gods

A decently constructed series of arguments in a video that nobody will watch. Excellent descriptions of the difference between atheism and agnosticism, and overall a fine example of the art of debate and argument.

Lack of belief in gods

WELCOME TO THE 60s! Children! Brothers! Sisters!

I used to be an agnostic. I still question ideas, theories and axioms from many perspectives on many levels especially personal, national or cultural ones.
As a "baby Boomer in the new "Atomic Age", years ago, one thing I came up with was the moral need to think and act globally, since the creation of world destruction. "With great power, comes great responsibility." applies to our species' scientific, economic and industrial powers.
I think that the original 10 Commandments were "updated" very successfully by the Jesus version of The 10 Commandments just from a heart/mind or Socratic standpoint. Not Platonic, but Socratic! Plato was the guy who took the notes! Socrates was the "enlightened teacher"! It is more than just the words. It is about the telepathic state of being of the teacher!

All this being said, I started looking at the initial concept of God being One. If so, we are all one from the universe on down to the atom. We are all one from the plants through the animals down to  us humans.
I also would have to include rocks, water, fire, machinery and electronics as well.
Matter, energy, photons and anti-matter would be one also.

With this oneness as a base of ideology, I would have to choose to believe that something or someone is true until I see it or them dis-proven. This I call inclusion ism as opposed to exclusion ism. Why walk around presuming
all is wrong unless proven on some mindset.

Remember, logic is perception's system of beliefs over time. Not logical at all! It is not what happens to you that
determines your perceptions, but how you choose to react to what happens around you.
That puts the "ball of power" in your court.

But I have to be humble here! How can I presume to know what the entire universe is all about! Science often presumes the latter to our peril!

Logic is one half of a coin with its other side being emotion. Truth and Love make up a single coin
as well.

Ram Dass countered Harvard's critique of his and Leary's Hallucinogenic consumption experiments by calling these experiments inward-consciousness-explorations. Taking a "trip" on drugs was getting to Heaven through the "back door"!
The next course of right action was asking, "How to get to Heaven or Oneness through the "Front Door" without drugs!
That has been my focus ever since.
On this level, I have followed a logic of the soul/heart through the years and
arrived at some conclusions:
1. I do now know more about God than I used to.
2. I do know less about God than I used to.
3. The purpose of life is that We are All here to grow. (define growth) LOL!
4. You get back what you put out. EX: The love you take is equal to the love you make.
5. The mind is a child that only requires one thing, to be busy. Why trust such an entity?
6. We are All One and We are All God.
8. We know nothing and we know everything!
9. Real truth is recognized as more being remembered than as something new to us.
10. Nature is the most truthful and successful prototype for science.
11. Ego or Personality is Not who we are, but a carefully constructed defense
system built upon past stressors. Why trust the ego?
12. Most of us are cowards and children on an emotional level until we are
ready to question our own false belief systems and upgrade them for better ones.
13. The solution to closing the gap between technology and social problems is
a personal dedication to upgrading our false belief systems or what I call,
    "doing our emotional homework"!
14. Fire your shrink!
15. Releasing all stored traumas from the body results in the fastest personal growth.
How to do this? That is a topic for another time.
16. Upon the releasing of most body-stored traumas, We can recover our connection to our
heart and soul. Time and space fall away and limitless peace and love remain.
This discovery is the purpose of life. Upon this self-realization the purpose
of life is to take care of each other. Kindness to all results naturally from the freed soul!

I'm not religious - except perhaps as an art form

Well, I'm not religious, I wouldn't say I'm even agnostic (in the sense of the true meaning of that word, which is that of being a person who believes that it is impossible to know something - in this case, as usually applied, impossible to know wether or not gods exist).

So I have no dog in this fight, as they say.

I tend to agree, at least a bit, with what I think you mean about "stored traumas in the body". I thought many of your other 16 points were interesting, but it's hard to say wether or not they might be useful to persons other than you.

"Releasing" "stored traumas" - well, who knows. One hears such language, but I'm not sure "releasing" applies as a metaphor. Maybe. It probably depends a bit on the person involved. If they were conditioned with the religious ideal of "forgiveness", the metaphor of releasing might be just what the doctor ordered.

I figure all these kinds of ideas are mental technologies, ways of thinking that produce certain kinds of inner life effects and experiences. Religion is an example of a system of mental technologies, and some of those mental technologies are interesting.

To paraphrase - oh what a crazy but beautiful planet, that has such creatures on it!

The Fracking Truth

Dear Bill,

I too am an artist. Doomed to create! The releasing of Stored taumas is not a mental disapline, like most self-help concepts, but a physical, emotional and meditative process tieing into the quantum electrical fields of the body through loving mediatiove touch. I have spent 4 years geting these electrical releases to occur with help from a Crainio-Sacral Therapist. Most of my stored traumatic baggage has "hit the road"! Yes, Bill, there is hope and joy without stored baggage! The real me has been able to arise and pentrate my day on a regular basis. The God is me and you and All ! Doing emotional homework this way is the reason I suid "fire your therapist"! With much love intended here, be here now, Bill!

The Fracking Truth

Religion as an art form

The sad and funny thing is that religion makes such an incredibly beautiful art form, the nouminous is everywhere, this is an amazing planet we live on, and the inner impulses to extract meaning out of nothing make we humans such astonishing animals.

I frequently have nouminous experiences - in fact, sometimes it's hard not to see things around me and enter a state of wonder, awe, and often enough exalted hilarity.

And religion has such a yummy assemblage of symbols and signifiers and storys. The religious mental technology of symbolism and symbolic manipulation of the world and one's own and the communities worldviews is really interesting.

I think there must be some fascinating science hidden in that technology.

And it's artistic potential has always inspired me.

I have this idea, that I call "final religion" - which is the last religion humans will have before they give up the need for religion altogether. Final religion would be all about appreciating biology, geology, and physics - basically, about appreciating and honoring this planet and the universe.

Shame I'll be dead long before anything much like final religion happens - but, there are ways in which I am trying to practice final religion now. As an art form.
